ABOUT US
A New Vision for Education in Bhutan
Thimphu High School was founded from a long-standing passion for education and a commitment to creating a complete learning environment for children in Bhutan.
Building on experience in primary education and community service, the founders envisioned a school where academic learning is complemented by strong values, personal care, sports, creativity, service and real-world experiences.
Located in a peaceful six-acre setting at Khasadrapchu and Tsaphu village, THS offers students the opportunity to learn in an environment where nature, community and education come together.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Thimphu High School.
THS was founded with a simple belief: every child deserves a safe, caring and inspiring environment to learn, grow and discover their potential.
As a fully residential, co-educational school surrounded by nature, we offer an education that extends beyond the classroom. From 2026, THS offers the Cambridge curriculum, combining an internationally recognised academic pathway with strong Bhutanese values, culture and traditions.
From 2026, Thimphu High School is proud to be registered as a Cambridge International School, marking a significant milestone in our journey towards academic excellence. This brings an internationally respected educational framework to our school and provides our students with opportunities to learn, achieve and progress within a globally recognised system. It reflects our commitment to combining the values and character of a Bhutanese education with the academic standards and global perspective of a world-class curriculum, preparing our students with the knowledge, confidence and skills to thrive wherever their journey may take them.
Our motto, “Sherab Joenshing – The Tree of Wisdom,” reflects our belief that strong roots in values and knowledge enable every student to grow and flourish.
