THS Biking
A place to live, learn, belong and grow.

Discover Your Passion. Find Your Strength.

At Thimphu High School, we believe that education extends well beyond the classroom. Participation in sports, clubs and outdoor activities is an integral and compulsory part of school life, helping students develop fitness, discipline, teamwork, confidence and resilience. Each day begins with physical activity, including our regular running programme, while after classes students have opportunities throughout the year to enjoy football, basketball, volleyball and a wide range of racquet sports. Our indoor programme is equally vibrant, with students participating in table tennis, snooker, chess and other games. Through this active and balanced programme, we aim to develop healthy, confident and well-rounded young people.

Driklam Namzha and Bhutanese Culture

At Thimphu High School, we place great importance on nurturing a strong connection with Bhutanese culture, values and traditions. Through our Driglam Namzha classes, students learn the principles of Bhutanese etiquette, respectful conduct and traditional customs, including the appropriate wearing and presentation of our national dress. The programme helps students understand and practise the traditions that form an important part of Bhutanese identity, while fostering dignity, respect and pride in our cultural heritage.

Learning Through Service

Communities & Service Activities

Student activities at THS also extend into the local community.

Because the school is located in a rural setting, students will have opportunities to understand and contribute to their surrounding community.

Activities may include:

  • Community service
  • Fundraising initiatives
  • Supporting children with limited educational support
  • Environmental activities
  • Growing vegetables
  • Learning about rural life and agriculture

Through these experiences, students develop empathy, responsibility, sustainability and a sense of service.

Every Student Has Something to Discover

Not every student will shine in the same environment. Some may find their confidence on the football field, others through music, art, technology, public speaking, adventure or service. At THS, we want students to have the opportunity to try, discover, develop and contribute.

Participation is not simply about winning. It is about discovering what you are capable of becoming.
